In room 7 we have been learning about ratios. Ratios compare values of different things. I did a quiz about ratios to test my understanding.

My Television Webquest!

In room 7 we made a webquest. We had to choose from television, radio, telephone, computer, satellite and printer. The good things about this was that I learnt something new. The thing I need to continue to work on is the color contrast.

The Great Escape!

The Great escape

At a zoo in America they had a special tourist attraction, a live dinosaur! He was as large as a tall tree and had powerful jaws that was able to crush a car. He was the most famous thing on planet earth.

One day he thought, “This is a boring life, I think I’m going to get out of here”, and so he did. One night when no one was around he made his quick getaway. He smashed anything and everything in his way. He was UNSTOPPABLE. He knew he had to evade his home without getting spotted by anyone. Easier said than done, he was huge and wasn’t good at hiding.

Before he knew it, he got spotted. Someone had called the police and they were on their way. It was hard to escape with his immense size, because it caused loud crashes wherever he stepped and he definitely couldn’t stay for very long, otherwise he would’ve gotten caught. He had to play strategically and mentally. He escaped into the forest so he could evade them. Many things lived there, making it easier for him to hide with all the noises.

He made it to the forest and he had to find a good place to hide. He found a very broad lake and hid there for the night. When he got up he had to find a way to get home, but he decided not to go until there were less people, because many people are wide awake at this time. So he waited until it was late and then made his move.

It was a very scary time for the people when it came on the news that a dinosaur was loose on the streets. There were many helicopters everywhere and it was impossible to go anywhere without being spotted. He thought in his head, “What can I do to get away?” At the moment he saw a narrow passage deep within the lake. He followed it to the other end and was never seen again.

Probability and Ratios

In room 7 we have been looking at probability and ratios. Probability is the chance of something that could happen, and a ratio is the parts of a whole amount.

Soft worm 3, rusty nail 1. The ratio for this is 3:1. Soft worm= 3/4 and rusty nail= 1/4. The probability for this is that it is likely to get soft warm, and its unlikely to get rusty nail.

Three in One Birthday Party!

In the weekends I went to a birthday party. It was my nana’s, auntie’s and cousin’s birthday party. It was held at my nana’s house.

An hour after I got there, I decided to play cricket with my other cousins. Some of the adults also wanted to play so they decided to join. After a while I got thirsty. One of my aunties was really good at batting. It took a long time to get her out, I eventually bowled her out.

After cricket was over, my dad thought that we could play dodge ball, so we did. I was the first one to get hit. Then I hit my older cousin with the ball. After that, I wasn’t becoming much of a target as I dodged most of the balls by not moving! Sometimes I did get hit but I kept aiming for the adults. After dodge ball, we played bull rush. I found that it was easy for me even though I was bigger than my cousins. The birthday party was really long because we were there for 5 hours.

I really liked the cake, there were at least three cakes. It was a long and hot birthday party, but it was worth it.

Changes of Matter Experiments!

In room 7 we had to made a presentation about the experiments we had done.

History of the America's Cup!

In room 7 we learnt about the history of the America's Cup. We made a timeline to show the history of the America's Cup in order.

Christening of New Junior Playground!

Today the whole school went to the new junior playground after Mass, to watch father Michael Bless the playground. It was starting to get cold while we were standing there. The Kapa Haka group sang a song. I thought that the Kapa Haka group did great. It took a while before the ceremony finished. Everyone was happy after it was done because it meant that our playground is now blessed.

What I did Today

Today in Room 7 we did R.E, math and reading.

In R.E we had to find out why Jesus saved us. We had to come up with our own ideas and find out what salvation means. Salvation means when to save someone. We then had to put the definition into our glossary at the back of our R.E books

In Math we did fractions. We had to show our working outs so that other people would know how we got our answers. We did a lot of hard math questions.

In reading we read a story called ‘In the Eye of the Storm’. It was about a cyclone that hit Niue, It was a very long story to read. We then had to write a report to the government of Niue why they should build storm- proof houses.

Being Smart With Money

In room 7 we had to make our own script and storyboard and the topic is about being smart with money.

We are learning about the Angelus prayer in Room 7. We say it when we take a break from our day to speak to God.

My 24 hour watch

We were told that we had to make a 24 hour watch on what sites we have been going to in the past 24 hours.

My Easter Weekend

On Easter Sunday, my family and I went to my grandma's place to celebrate Easter. When I got there I played with my cousins, until my aunt made us do an Easter egg hunt, and whoever got the most got to keep the ones they got. 

A few hours later, my grandma made us hot cross buns.one of my cousins didn't want to get one for some strange reason, probably because he wanted to play instead. 

after a while everyone was starting to get bored so my cousin and I decided to start playing cricket, then everyone else started playing to play as well. After an hour I was the last child playing which meant that I was against people older than me and then I eventually decided to quit because it got too hard,and not moments later the game stopped.

My parents decided to go back home probably because we stayed a long time.
